Bradley Allsop, MSAI

Illustrator

I specialise in Architectural, Archaeological, and editorial Illustration. My style mixes a hand-drawn playful approach with Architectural style pen-work and earthy colours, all derived from my love of ‘plein air’ sketching.

Traditional pen, paper and pencil/ watercolour is my preferred choice of medium, but deadlines do not always allow for this. Often i’ll use all those same techniques but on a drawing tablet for quick, easy revisions when under time restraints.

I have worked and collaborated with large and small companies and community driven projects. Relevant client’s list includes BBC, Gwynedd Archaeology, Historic England, Nottingham Energy Partnership, Philip Buckingham (5HT), Hempcrete Cymru, UK Hempcrete, East street Arts, Cabin Craft and many more prestigious companies.

My career started in Architecture, as a student at Northumbria University where I gained multiple architectural Awards and an addiction to coffee… Over time, I expanded my design knowledge in practice, trained and worked in carpentry, heritage crafts and natural building and now use that knowledge to influence and fuel my love for drawing and illustration. This gives me an added edge to understanding how buildings come together (hence why a lot of my clients are from the timber framing and construction sector)

I am also heavily involved with the West Yorkshire Society of Architects, previously winning their DMJ Sketching Award’s and now I’m a regular judge on their awards panel.

I hope you have enjoyed looking through my application. Applying for the SAI membership is something I’ve been striving toward for a long time, hoping my portfolio would match that of the legendary illustrators on there.

Being part of a community would be fantastic and the chance to gain more exciting work in archaeological interpretation and architectural illustration would be wonderful.
