Matthew Poon, MSAI

Illustrator, Model Maker & Photographer

I am Matthew Poon, the Co-founder of Unit Q, a practising architect, a prototype designer and a university lecturer at the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL. My inventive work draws on my multidisciplinary expertise in virtual reality, analogue drawing, digital sculpting and visualisation.

Through experimentation, speculation and prototyping, my illustrative work ventures into fantastical narratives, unravelling fresh, provocative spatial designs that tickle stimulating architectural questions. My illustrative interventions often glide at the seam between digital and analogue realms, thus teasing out the most authentic flavours in both 2D and 3D.

With extensive expertise in professional architectural illustration and photography spanning decades, my work has been celebrated in publications and exhibitions in Hong Kong, Japan and the UK. I have received prestigious accolades such as the Architect’s Journal AJ100 New Talent, World Architecture Festival Visualisation Prize, Architizer’s Top 100 Architectural Drawings and have been a finalist in the Architectural Drawing Prize, Ken Roberts Memorial Delineation Competition, RIBA Photography competitions, among others.
